Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Thank you for taking the time to read about myself and my wonderful third graders. I educate young minds in a Title I school in the Bronx, New York. All of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Our school educates students from pre-kindergarten up to eighth grade. In the heart of New York City, our third grade students push themselves each day to grow their education and character. We are a diverse group of learners from the community. Each student enters our school with different background and experiences. Our classroom welcomes all differences and celebrates each student for the unique person that they are. Third Grade is a key year for any elementary student.
In 3rd grade, they are no longer learning to read, but are now reading to learn.
My students are hungry for knowledge. This is the first year they have to take state tests in New York. Any help you can contribute to our classroom will be very much appreciated! In our class, we prepare students to succeed in life, not just on tests. Achieving is believing!
My Project
Currently we are in the middle of a nonfiction unit and my students are devouring these books. We simply do not have enough books! Your donation would greatly help our students who are passionate and thirsty for knowledge.
Reading is one of the easiest and most fun ways to learn and engage in any course of study.
Our class is an ICT classroom which means that about half of our students are special education and the other half are general education. They love reading about animals, real people, weather and so much more. Our classroom needs more books for our students. We need your help to add literature to the lives of our students in this low income Bronx school. The students are so excited at the idea of getting more books into our classroom library.
