Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The challenge that face my students is the fact that our school does not have the available funds to supply supplemental material that is needed for the classroom due to budgetary cuts in the school district which leaves the students without many things to ensure their academic success.
My students are coming from poverty-leveled homes which does not mean that they are incapable of learning.
In fact, that is not even a factor! They come to school each day eager to learn. The school is in a high-crime, high-poverty neighborhood. My classroom is a place where they are thriving and learning how to become future leaders! They enjoy learning and I enjoy teaching them!
My Project
The lap- sized whiteboards, erasers, and whiteboard markers will be used for whole group instruction in Math to record answers as well as Language arts to practice letter formation/ daily handwriting and phonics lessons. These resources are very critical because my students need their own whiteboards in order to do their work.
Donations will make a difference because I do not have the money on a teacher's salary to buy these resources, so having the opportunity to have an organization such as this to be able to assist my students with materials is such a wonderful thing, I have tears in my eyes as I am typing this response because it is wonderful to have support for my students to enhance their learning!
