Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is in a public inner-city school. Many students have difficulty sitting all day and need seating to help them be comfortable to learn. We are working this year to be kind and helpful to everyone and learn as much as we can, but kids need to wiggle to stay focused. We recite our school pledge every morning to remind us to be respectful, act responsible, work hard, and keep safe. I am in need of some flexible seating to help keep the kids learning. Kids can be motivated to learn and flexible seating is an easy way to keep them learning.
I need all students to be productive, however, when they are uncomfortable and distracted, they are not learning!
Flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch and can help children focus and learn. Flexible seating can provide a sensory input that is especially helpful for students with attention issues. Please help me provide some seating to my students to help them learn!
My Project
Sitting still all day is difficult for anyone, especially third-grade students. Giving my students wiggle cushions will help them have the ability to move in their seats, helping to keep them focused. Students with attention deficits need tools to aid their learning and wiggle cushions will assist them to focus on their schooling and less on moving.
The rainbow colors of wiggle cushions will keep students interested in using wiggle cushions to help them learn each day.
The different types of wiggle cushions will allow all students in the classroom to have a choice each day based on their sensory needs.
