Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have dedicated themselves to their education. They take advanced math and science classes. In an area of Austin where they see a lot of poverty and struggle, these students have put themselves on a track to graduate high school ahead of even some of their upper class peers from other parts of Austin.

The advanced classes help them gain entry into college, which for most of these students, they will be the first in their families to attend.

However, they also need emotional support and exposure to different opportunities. Being aware of your options is not a given to anyone and part of our commitment to help bring that awareness to our students and their families.

My Project

We are planning an end-of-year field trip to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. This trip will be a great personal experience for the kids in our Einstein Jr. advanced academic program who have been working so hard throughout the year.

These students come from families who want the absolute best for their kids but may not always know what that looks like or how to get them there.

Experiences like these help our students see the bigger picture and gives them hope. When we are able to expose them to what else is out there, it can help them open up their minds to more and better options for their own futures.
