Help me give my students an update to our currant classroom library. Many of our books are in rough shape and need to be updated. I also want to add some nonfictional books to our classroom library.
My students are living in a small rural town in Eastern Utah. They are sweet first grade students that are so excited about school and absolutely love to learn new things. They come to school each day ready to do their very best and take brave chances in order to grow and develop as early learners.
Being in first grade, this is my students' first opportunity to dive into the different genres and stories that can instill in them a true love for reading.
Our classroom library is an essential resource for my students. Many of my students do not have access to books at home and rely on our school library and our classroom library to check out high-quality books.
My Project
My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy!! I read on the carpet to them, they also check out books that they read independently though out the week. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have talk to them about their interests and what kind of books they enjoy and I also want to be able to expose them to new and different types of genres they might not normally pick up. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
