My Students
Mrs. B's Sharp Bunch is a talent development/gifted classroom for kindergarten students. Students qualify for this program through knowledge of their letters and sounds, number sense or non-verbal reasoning abilities. We are part of a diverse school of over 1,000 students. Our school community is tight-knit. We are an extremely positive campus who care about the social-emotional and academic well being of our students!
Our scholars know they are in a safe place where they are encouraged and pushed to reach their academic potential!
Our school motto is "Inspiring students to learn today and lead tomorrow." This motto is fulfilled with a fantastic positive behavior support program which creates a safe environment for learning. It is demonstrated through our campus-wide Peaceful Playground program which teaches students to play games and play with others in a fair and safe way. We also have a rigorous curriculum which pushes all our students to reach their personal potential! Our school is a neighborhood school although we have a good chunk of students from outside our boundary lines who "open enroll" for the stellar education provided at our school.

"Teaching phonics with the brain in mind"
Making Sense of the Phonics Code for Reading!
I am requesting classroom resources to support instruction in phonics. Our class would learn the top secret code to phonics together! We will practice applying these secrets throughout our day in various text we encounter. Students would have access to posters and other resources to learn and remember all of our new secrets.
The accessibility of these secrets allow young students (such as my kindergarteners) to understand and apply advanced phonics skills before they are typically taught. I am SO excited to see what they are able to read with these secrets in their pocket!
