This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach elementary students (English Language Learners) in a low-income/high-poverty school district. My students are faced with many challenges such as limited school supplies, trauma, and hardship. Even with the challenges they face both in and out of school, my students walk into our classroom happy and eager to learn each day. My students are creative and clever. I want my students to enjoy learning English through interactive technology. Interactive technology increases engagement with students and helps create a dynamic learning environment.

My Project

I work in a special education classroom of grades 6, 7, and 8th grade. All to often I go into IEP meeting with families not having the true understanding of how an IEP works. I am requesting 30 Especially 4 Me books. To give families more confidence and understanding of the IEP process.

My goal is to help parents strive to attend meetings to ensure participation in decision-making and to provide input on all aspects of their children's education.
