Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I see my students are faced with several challenges in and out of the classroom. What is amazing about my students is that they don't allow these hardships to stop them from being successful!

The students in my classroom are full of energy and very enthusiastic about learning!

Our school is a Title I school that serves students who come from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences. For our students, rich classroom experiences are what lead them to their passions and future pursuits. We are a community of learners and thinkers who love a new challenge and embrace new things every day!

My Project

Imagine coming to school hungry and worrying about snacks for the day or what you are going to eat when you get home. How can we expect our students to focus and learn when their tummies are growling?

Our project will help provide students in my classroom with everyday snack necessities that they don’t have and allow them to take snacks home.

There are several homeless and high poverty students within my classroom who come to school without being prepared. Several of them rely on school just to provide them with a meal and a safe place to be. The request is for items such as food to send home with them to assist with the lack of food, or places to keep refrigerated food items. These are all things that many people have as basic needs and on a regular basis, but for many of my families, they are luxuries. This project will address the urgent needs of the students by providing materials so they can come to school with self-confidence, equipped to learn and set up for success!
