My Students

I teach special education kindergarten students. They have a wide variety of needs and often require academic content to be presented in a variety of ways. It has been difficult to find ways to present new material to them online as we teach from home during the pandemic.

My Project

Because of the pandemic, students are forced to learn at home through distance learning. All of our synchronous lessons are presented over Google Meet. This makes it very difficult to teach using many of the materials we have already developed for use in the classroom. Teachers must hold up to the screen to share whatever they are using to teach. This might include demonstrating correct letter or number formation for handwriting or how to use math manipulative to solve an equation. My kindergarten students need to be clearly shown what we are teaching so so that they can learn and replicate it. A document camera would help to demonstrate many skills and learning strategies to my class during distance learning.
