My Students

I have a new group of 21 enthusiastic 3rd graders. Most of my students come from low-income households and have diverse social and emotional backgrounds. I have students who have learning disabilities, attention issues, speech problems, and also high ability children. Unfortunately due to COVID -19, we are starting school remotely this year.

Steve Jobs says, "Learn continually there's always one more thing to learn.

I would tell my students as they enter the classroom you are going to learn something exciting today. As students leave for the day I would ask what did you learn today.” This year it is going to look and sound different because of remote learning. I am excited to get to know this group of students.

My Project

I am hoping to purchase a document camera and dry erase board for my remote learning. This will give my students a realistic start to the school year. I will be able to work through and show different math problems, writing genres, and picture books. I will also be able to demonstrate science experiments. This will allow me to share information in real-time.

My students are used to being fully engaged in hands-on activities and vibrant class discussions.

By adding a document camera and a whiteboard to my remote classroom, I can more easily engage my virtual learners daily. The whiteboard will help me display daily learning targets for my visual learners. When covering the targeted standards, it is vital that students have access to valid and consistent resources, and I feel that with the aid of this technology, I will be able to better meet the needs of my virtual students.
