My Students
My student are a multi-cultural group who come from many different parts of the world. It is imperative that they learn to play cooperatively.
I teach second grade students and play is an important part of a child's growth.
It contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well being of all children. In this age of the digital world outdoor play with peers is becoming a thing of the past. Play in contrast to passive entertainment, builds active healthy bodies.
My Project
We will be using this equipment during outdoor play in the school yard. We will be joined by classes on the same grade. It has been suggested that unstructured play is an exceptional way to increase physical activity in children. In addition play is a simple joy that is a cherished part of childhood. I am requesting playground balls, jump ropes, bean bags, and several frisbees to help the children learn to play cooperatively outside. I also included bags, in my request, to help carry all the equipment.
Many students go home to caregivers, or to other rigorous academic after-school programs which leaves very little time for play.
This equipment will allow my students to get the play they need during their school day.
