My Students
Do you remember what it was like to use your imagination to write your own story? My students who are diagnosed with autism have difficultly thinking abstractly and need help with the basic skills needed to write their own stories.
I work with students aged 6-8 who are diagnosed with autism.
They are loving children who are adore books. My students love working on computers and if they have any down time you can find them sitting next to our classroom library searching for a new book to read. Although they are interested in reading, they have a lot of difficulty when it comes to writing and expressing themselves with words, that is why I need your help to get the best supplies possible for them.
My Project
These resources will help promote higher thinking skills through the use of writing prompts and activities. With the help of these prompts, my students will be able to express themselves and gain the starter skills for independent writing. Writing prompts will allow for my students to get into important habit of writing daily, inspiring creativity with unusual writing prompts to allow them to think abstractly, and of course just give my students a starting point. When it comes to writing, my students also have difficulty spacing their words, they are either too close or too far away from one another. With a line spacer, it will give my visual learners a guide as to where to start their next word. Finally, all of the comprehension material will help my students generalize their writing skills in other ways. My students have trouble generalizing skills into other academic areas, comprehension writing will allow them to practice their writing in other academic areas.
Please contribute whatever you can to help my students increase their educational experience.
Help these students learn the foundational skills for writing. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
