This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Today’s children are being exposed to an increase in traumatic events both at home and in their communities. Research has shown that children who have experienced trauma have decreases in cognitive functioning as well as social emotional development.

As a Title 1 school, our students are at an even higher risk than their peers.

Your donation will help us start building a SEL library which our teachers can use to integrate social emotional development into our literacy programs. As part of our SEL program we are hoping to teach our students emotional resiliency as well as tolerance and love for each other and themselves.
