Help Us Teach Our New Peers About Our Differences!
Help me give my students (our new peers) books about inclusion and celebrating differences. Our special education program is being moved to a new school and we need help with literature for our new classmates!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting these books for our new school site! Our beautiful school is being closed to budget cuts and we are being moved to a school that does not have a full special needs program on site. What better way for our new classmates to learn about our program than through books! I have made a list of books that we can give to each classroom on our new school site. It is my hope that the teachers will read them to their students when questions arise. We are so excited to be included at our new school but change is never easy and I hope these stories will help! I’ve chosen stories that celebrate diversity, model compassion and challenge bias in order to teach inclusion. Sometimes all it takes is starting the conversation and these books allow that in an easy and digestible way.
