My students need an easel to use during our times spent on the rug. They need an easel that they can interact with when making words and be able to write on the easel.

My Students
My students need hands on interaction. There are so many different activities that could help my students learn. Having a place where students can observe the teacher and be able to use magnetic letters to learn new spelling patterns and high frequency words.
Many of my 2nd grade students are reading and not motivated to learn.
My school provides limited resources for teachers and students. Research has shown that quality resources make a difference.
My students come from poverty stricken homes and most don't know how good it feels to succeed. My classroom is a second grade, integrated room in New York. A lot of my students come from broken homes or live with other relatives because their parents have made a wrong choices in their lives. I have 8 special education students in my room that need more support. I want to ensure that I am doing everything I can to help them succeed. I want to be able to provide the fun and interactive learning that they deserve. They learn from hands-on activities and sometimes I can't provide what they need on my own.
My Project
Having an easel that students can look at while I teach will keep my students more focused. This easel will allow me use it as a white board for all subjects. It also will allow me to use magnetic letters to teach spelling patterns, sight words and create sentences. The population of students that I work with do not use correct grammar when they speak or write. This easel will help me show them the correct way to use words in a sentence. I can also use the easel during math, science, and social studies which are all taught on the rug. Not only will the easel help my students interact more during lessons but I will have a place to keep all of my anchor charts to refer back to. With the limited space in my classroom this will be very beneficial for my students.
Donations given to this project will make a difference in my students' learning and in their ability to stay focused during lessons.
Interaction in the classroom can make all the difference! Not many things are given to the population of students that I work with, which makes them appreciate even the tiniest gift. Please help put a smile on my students' faces and contribute to their leaning in the classroom.
