Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all English Language Learners. Their families have all taken a courageous leap of faith to build a better life for themselves here in the United States. Some are migrants, others are refugees, but they all share a desire to achieve their own American dream.

My students all have their own unique story about how they ended up in my classroom.

One of my favorite things as a teacher is learning of all their experiences and using their experiences to enrich the learning environment of my whole classroom.

My Project

Anne Frank's diary is a vivid and poignant account of life during the Holocaust. This classroom set of books will give all my students access to Anne's story and help them realize the true impact that the Holocaust had on the lives of people - people just like them. We have copies at our school but a classroom set of books will allow a complete and in-depth study that will accompany teaching about World War II. It will give students a real, authentic look at the impact of the Holocaust told by a young girl who is very relatable to my students.
