Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My ELL tenth grade students are all recent immigrants who are learning English as their second, third or even fourth language. My students are from more than 20 countries and speak more than six different languages.
My students are amazing recent immigrants who work part-time jobs, take care of family members, play sports and attend our after-school programs.
Throughout the year, my class will host family writing events to bring guardians, community and family members to celebrate our work and build relationships.
My Project
This project will provide a selection of classroom basics for my classes so that students can have all the materials and nutritious snacks that they need to stay focused and do well.
Your donation of award certificates, fidgets and healthy snacks will provide much-needed classroom basics.
In my classroom, each table has a class supply box of fidgets and other stress relievers so that students can practice self-regulation and focus. These stress boxes are especially helpful for students with difficulties with attention and self-regulation.
The award certificates are incentives for my class reading program that provides targeted interventions for students with special needs.
I also provide students with healthy snacks so that they can stay focused and participate in class activities. These supplies do not last the wear and tear of an entire school year, and it is important that I can replenish the boxes and snack bin.
