it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a group of active, curious Pre-Kindergartners whose eagerness to learn continually inspires my teaching. Our school is a Title I school: the majority of the students’ families are low income and nearly all qualify to receive free or reduced price lunch. Many students are first-generation United States citizens, learning English for the first time.
My Project
At the beginning of the school year, developing a sense of community in the classroom is paramount. This is especially true for Pre-Kindergartners: developing social skills and emotional intelligence is part of the curriculum. But how can we build community when half of the class is in school and the other is learning remotely?
A webcam will help all of my students connect with each other everyday, regardless of their physical presence in class.
We can build relationships through daily Zoom meetings. When we can all meet together in class, we will meet as friends and not strangers.
