My Students

Our students represent the economically diverse background of Eastern Kentucky. We have a wonderful group of 24 students, all of whom come from homes that want to see their children thrive and succeed. No matter if they come from the local doctor's home or the low-income housing in our area, our parents work diligently with their children and participate in our school/home reading program to help their children make progress.

Our school district has seen a change in our student population over the last few years.

Since the fall of the coal industry, there has been a rise in poverty along with our free and reduced-rate lunch population. Eastern Kentucky has also been a victim of prescription drug abuse that is occurring across the country and many of our students' homes have been affected by this tragedy.

My Project

The purpose of this project is to help ensure all of my students have access to technology to learn in our changing world. The Chromebook will allow me to personalize learning which will help close achievement gaps. I will be able to empower my students with student-centered learning actives. These activities will engage my students and allow them to take part in lessons that would be impossible to do with Chromebooks. They would also give me the opportunity to assess student learning with an online format. The data will be accessed instantly and will allow me to provide lessons that meet those needs. The Chromebooks will also my students to complete project-based learning activities with their families and provide a tool to do research at home. It will also ensure that all parents have the same tool available to help their child succeed in school.
