My Students
My students are special needs students who have multiple disabilities. They walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. They are a group of children who work hard at being an inspiration to themselves and to others.
They enjoy incorporating what they have learned from real life experiences and they are very enthusiastic about learning!
There are many outside factors that they cannot control that can affect their day. They each have their own learning needs which makes it very important for me to provide my students with differentiated instruction, a safe environment as well as an education that is based around whole brain learning.
We are a part of an elementary school in Columbus, Ohio which is highest poverty. Our students do not have the resources at home to succeed in this world, so it is my job to help them learn these skills at school!
My Project
Research suggests that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. By keeping students healthy and at school, we provide them with the chance of success!
As a high poverty school, we're faced with a limited budget for even the most essential items that help keep students healthy and at school.
A HEPA air filter will help reduce germs and allergens in the classroom which is essential considering we have a very, very old school building. Lysol disinfectant spray and air purifier will help us continue to fight the germs that linger in the air. These supplies will help maintain a healthy classroom environment for my students, which keeps them learning year-round.
