My Students

Help us dive straight into learning with the supplies we need to start the year off on the right foot!

The students you will be donating to are a very special bunch.

My class consists of students who have cognitive, emotional, social, and physical delays. Their disabilities range from speech and language impaired, autism, health impairments, and learning disabled. The classroom setup has been designed to include students with special needs (inclusion model). This means that while half the students are considered general education, the other half have special needs. With this inclusive model, it allows for students with special needs to be educated amongst their general education peers while getting the individualized services they need. It also teaches tolerance and acceptance to their general education peers. My students inspire me everyday because even though they have cognitive or health impairments, they are still full of life and have beautiful and joyful spirits.

My Project

Unfortunately, New York City suffered from numerous budget cuts. Due to this fact, Teacher's Choice money (money we can use for our classrooms) has been cut. I now have no money to spend on supplies for my classroom. This is unfortunate because the students are the ones who are suffering the most due to lack of supplies. With these donated supplies, my students will have some of the tools they need to have successful school year. Not to mention, I work in a high needs population and this would greatly because many families struggle to get the supplies needed for the children. I would love for my students to start the year off with all of these wonderful supplies, especially the journals and interactive technologies. The journals provide a wonderful opportunity for students to express themselves and have something that solely belongs to them, which gave them a strong sense of ownership over their work. The interactive technologies provide hands-on learning which is highly engaging.

With your help, my students will get the materials they need in order to have a successful school year.

It will also make learning interesting, and keep my students engaged. They will be having so much fun, they won't even realize they are learning!
