My Students

Help our students achieve the American dream by helping them learn English!

Our students are all newly arrived teenage immigrants from 20 different countries--all here with the hopes of achieving the American dream.

To do that, they need to learn English! They attend our alternative public school to earn their GED because they are overage for a regular high school setting. They are hard-working students who often work while attending school to help support their family. All have aspirations of one day attending college.

My Project

Learning English is the key to our students' success. With just a few CD players and read-along storybooks, our students will be able to improve their listening skills and reading abilities. Some of the stories we picked have iconic American literature characters; others are more universal, familiar stories that students will be able to follow even if their English level is low. My students need a listening lab with Read Along books to help them learn English!

Once our students learn English, they will be bilingual contributors to our multicultural, American society.

The mission of our school is to develop global citizens and you can help us do that!!
