My students would love to spread kindness in their community during Kindness Week! This student-led community service project will showcase my students' work as they will create projects to help inspire the spread of kindness in their school and community.
Our community is one of the most diverse in Chicago with many cultures that blend to create a unique community.
With wars going on, this community has become increasingly divided according to religious and political beliefs with an increase in hate crimes in the neighborhood. My students will use the Chromebook to write to local politicians and community leaders to encourage kindness and to also create flyers to post in the neighborhood about kindness.
The posters will be placed around the school community as a constant reminder to be kind. Students will then use them during a buddy day in which they will have discussions with 2nd graders about the importance of kindness. They will use the kindness cubes for these conversations. The markers, colored paper, and poster making supplies such as tape will be used to create posters for kindness.
