This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from around our city. They come from single parent and low-income homes with limited transportation. The majority of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch and we are 85% minority populations. When looking at different indicators, almost all of our students are at risk and in need of intervention and support.

There are many benefits when teens choose to participate in organized sports particularly ones involving teamwork, it teaches responsibility, accountability, and collective efforts skills.

My Project

By providing softball pants to the student-athletes, this will remove an economic burden from the school and athletes which have limited funds. Our current pants are worn and out of date. Typically pants last 3 to 5 years, unfortunately, ours are 10 years old. Team sports are beneficial to the young ladies participating in the sport. The lessons and friendships are lifelong skills. Extracurricular activities also keep young women involved in positive activities instead of other things in the neighborhood. Thank you for your consideration as your donations will have an immense impact on the youth of our community.
