My students are an energetic and enthusiastic group of learners. They are second graders in an elementary school located in a major metropolitan area of Washington state. They come from diverse backgrounds both culturally and socioeconomically, though our school does have a high level of students who qualify for either free or reduced priced lunch. Despite the challenges that many of them may face, my students come to school each day eager to learn and embrace the challenges of the day.
My Project
Let's face it, pencil sharpeners get a lot of use in an elementary school classroom and don't last forever. Our classroom needs two new pencil sharpeners for the new school year!
Our current pencil sharpener is wearing out and we need new ones that are up to the job of sharpening lots of pencil on a daily basis without wearing out.
The pencil sharpeners and the pencils I am requesting will let my students complete their daily classroom assignments with less wait time to sharpen. The quality pencils mean fewer trips to the pencil sharpener and less learning time lost to the sharpener line.
The folders I am requesting will last much longer than the paper versions that need replacing by the middle of the year or earlier. They will be used to help students organize their literacy work.
