This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine what it is like to try to learn in class with out the appropriate materials needed.

My school has a wide variety of students.

We are made of farming children, migrant children, low income children and children from the working class. Many parents are unemployed and cannot afford to buy school supplies for their children. With district budget cuts, teachers can't afford them either.

My Project

Having a pencil sharpener that works would allow my students to participate appropriately! I have found that my students are forced to peel the wood back on their pencils for lead. Also, using dry erase markers is a major part of our math lessons. The students go through them so quickly!

It's important for students to have working writing utensils so they aren't forced to interrupt their learning to ask a friend for a pencil or a marker.

Even worse, they won't have to sit without any writing utensils!
