it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My culinary arts students are the best! They're flexible and brave and are willing to try new things. Some of them have never touched a knife or read a recipe, and most certainly have never made food for themselves from scratch. They impress me every day with their hard work and dedication.
When they first entered my class, using a stove, a knife, or a recipe was a completely foreign concept.
As the years go on, they start to see how wonderful food can be, how much better it tastes if they make it themselves, and how they can affect the choices they make about their health. It is exciting and inspiring to watch them, and I can't wait to expand their food knowledge in the years to come.
After returning to in-person teaching, it was important to be mindful of being safe. As I demonstrated the recipe for our class, students who were not near my demo table were not be able to see what was going on and were not as engaged in the learning process. Now it is time to update the TV that changed our classroom for the better to a new one that even more students will be able to fully engage with in class. We received new furniture this year with stools. As a result, everyone is higher than they were before and our current TV is blocked. By getting a bigger TV and a better sound system, ALL students in the room will once again be able to see and engage in the learning process.
