Help Us Scope World War II!

My students need a Junior Scholastic subscription for their small group instruction, and a class set of Scope to connect to our World War II curriculum.

My Students

As Maya Angelou eloquently expressed, "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them."

For our unit on the resiliency of the human spirit during World War II, my students would tremendously benefit from having a class set of Scope Scholastic books to use as continued reading sources on the topic.

My students are inquisitive eighth graders who love to understand classroom topics in the most interesting way possible. In order to encourage their awareness, having materials that are engaging to my students will deepen what they are learning as well as making the lesson more memorable.

My Project

Scope will be used with all three of my classes in order to offer an alternative resource for them to use in their understanding of resiliency of the human spirit. In this way, they will be able to relate to what occurred during World War II with a more modern frame of reference to guide their ideas. The Junior Scholastic books will encourage students during small group instruction to focus on different skills and techniques they are needing in regards to reading and writing. This will help them to perfect these inadequacies before their state testing.

As my students learn about World War II this year, their perceptions will be altered.

As a result, they will be able to understand historical events in a more modern way. Deepening their awareness of World War II events will help them to have further insight into the resiliency of the human spirit, while also connecting to the individuals they study. This knowledge will allow them to relate to what transpired and to never forget.
