Help me give my students equipment (sneeze guards,counter protector, and air purifier) and learning tools (highlighter, pencil sharpeners, and pencil pouches) so that they can feel safe and comfortable in the classroom when they return to school during this pandemic.
I teach in a Title I school that is located in an area where the majority of our students come from low income households. Over 50% of our students speak English as a second language, receive free/reduced meals and are unable to bring the basic required supplies to school. Although they may come from socially disadvantaged homes, our students have big hearts and are enthusiastic about learning new things.
My Project
With the requested materials we hope to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for our students. Due to the pandemic we are having to rely mostly on the use of technology and personal protective equipment to deliver instruction. There is a lot of feelings of uncertainty and anxiety that our students may have about returning to the classroom for face to face instruction. In our classroom we usually have a shared supply center where students are able to borrow supplies that they do not have. Our goal is also to make sure that our students are equipped with the materials that they need and are not afraid to return to school when the time comes. These materials will allow us to provide each student with their own set of supplies which will help to reduce shared contact between supplies and promote social distancing within the classroom. The health, safety and overall well-being of our students is a top priority. The items purchased will help us to provide a safer learning environment for our students and hopefully help to reduce their anxious feelings of returning to school.
