Help Us Repair Our Over Circulated Books With Some Tape!
My students need book tape and packaging tape to make essential repairs on our over circulated books.
Do you remember what it's like to read a book that is so good you just can't put it down? Many of my students want to check out books in the library but many of them are damaged and need to be repaired with book tape.
I am the librarian in a K-5 school.
We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
The book tape will allow me to cover the books in the library and ensure a longer life span (aka longer than one trip home in a backpack during a rainstorm.) Many of my students have chosen not to take books home because they don't want to bring the book back looking like the dog ate it. The book tape will help to protect the book and enable my students to take a book home without the fear of destroying it, giving it a longer shelf life.
Your help will ensure that my students get a chance to love reading as much as I do.
They can take a book that was once literally falling apart at the seams and get to enjoy it once more.
