Help Us Read At Home!
My students need book pouches so that they can take their leveled books back and forth from the classroom to their homes to practice each night with their families.
We need to be reading at home and in the classroom! My students need book pouches to help them do so.
I teach 23, eager 5 year olds at an IB World magnet school, where learning through inquiry is our focus.
We encourage students to be global learners and also to take control of their own learning. The school is a Title 1 school, which means at least 50% of the students are on free or reduced lunch.
As kindergarteners and beginning readers, it is so important for my students to be reading leveled books each night with someone in their home. I confer with each student and set reading goals based on their needs. It is imperative that these goals are not only practiced in school, but also at home. The book pouches will help easily transport the books between the classroom and home and provide a clear routine for them. It will become a habit for them to put their book pouches, with all needed materials, into their book bags at the end of each school day.
These book pouches will help make a huge difference in the lives of my students because they will become readers!
Reading is the foundation for any other subject and a new world will be opened for them once they begin to read. Reading at home is just another way to help them become lifelong learners.
