My Project

Our school district has embarked on a challenge to encourage the greater Orange Community to read over 2 million pages this school year! Help us to provide incentives for students and families to who participate in this challenge!

Our hope is to offer incentives at our end of year celebration and literacy festival where every participant can be offered a certificate and a meaningful, literacy-related gift to help encourage them to keep on reading!

Literacy rates are low, and in our urban school district, we are on a quest to raise both skill and will in the areas of reading and writing. Please help us on our journey as we encourage everyone to not only read, but share the words they learn from!

We plan to offer our top readers across the district a goody bag full of exciting school supplies and literacy related gifts such as a notebook that reflects the HBCU schools many wish to attend, a flashlight to illuminate their thinking, a beautiful new bookmark, and more. Remaining gifts will be offered to participants who did not reach the level of top readers, but who are passionate and attend our culminating literacy fair event.

It is our hope that this literacy fair and related incentives help students to find and maintain an excitement about literacy while they seek to find a series,.book or topic that excites them!
