Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are hands on learners without the ability to put our hands on our Internet discoveries. My bi-lingual students with special needs are exceptionally motivated learners who benefit greatly from being able to put their hands on materials. These 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders are in a economically disadvantaged community whose parents are supportive of their children's educational experiences and involved in the school.
Although my special needs children have some access to computers within the building they frequently are unable to complete projects due to the amount of time it takes them to locate and process information. These students are developing their ability to read and summarize materials; however due to their disabilities they aren't able to quickly take sufficient notes as is required in the general education setting, and need printed copies not always available to them.
We would greatly appreciate a color laser printer so that we would be able to print text and pictures. As we prepare our cultural month presentation boards we would be able to print information from the Internet to develop into our own reports, which then could be word processed and printed. In addition to printing text we would love to be able to print pictures to enhance our reports.
Your help will ensure that my bi-lingual, special needs students are able to print information as they need it and develop high-quality materials. Your donation will give these high need students have the same opportunities as their non disabled peers.
