My students need 3 sets of books to share while reading in class. These books are all about the inventors the Wright brothers, Honda, and Ben Franklin.

My Students

A typical day in my class begins with reading comprehension and phonics, followed by math and ending with science or social studies at the end of the day.

The school I teach in is a Title 1 school outside Baltimore City.

My students are from diverse backgrounds, many speaking two languages. My students are hard workers and always try their best. They love to impress their teachers and parents. Right now, they are very excited about an upcoming unit about inventors.

My Project

I find that my students are often bored when reading from anthologies, so I like the supplement the curriculum with rich, rigorous text. These books will be used in whole and small group instruction in order to enrich and extend the curriculum with some close reading lessons.

This project will help to improve instruction and engagement within my classroom and (more importantly) put books into the hands of my students!

Within this unit, students will be researching inventors and inventions, reading about invention and innovation, and identifying moral and ethical issues within inventing.
