My students are a potpourri of talent.
You see, I facilitate my district's gifted program for grades 1-12. Our hand-me-down lap tops were fading fast. We were beyond grateful this year when we received 3 new Chromebooks thanks to generous donations. Now we would like to ensure they last. My school is 70% free and reduced lunch. Most of my students do not have access to technology at home. Being able to provide them with opportunities to explore the world and discover new possibilities while in my class is very important to me.
My Project
The 3 Chromebooks we now have are a fantastic start in trading out our older technology. They are used everyday and are very loved! In fact, I have made a rotation schedule so there is no arguing over who gets to use them. Having the hard shell covers will protect our Chromebooks from everyday wear and tear. The wireless mice will help my younger students navigate more easily and cut down on their frustration trying to hunt and peck for keys.
My students have ownership of their gifted classroom.
We work together to choose projects and activities that will challenge and spark their imaginations. They are taking good care of our new technology and are the ones who have suggested we protect and add mice to them. Taking pride in objects is a very big step especially for my students who live in poverty. I am happy to submit this project for them.
