My Students

Our 7th grade classes love to be engaged in the mystery and excitement of hands on activities. Each day, we learn, discuss, and discover parts of their world that they didn't look at as closely as they do in a science classroom. I encourage students to debate and question the world around them.

This year I will have the pleasure of having 160 wonderful young 7th grade scientists.

They love to get their hands messy in science experiments. With every unit of study, their understanding of the world around them sparks engaging discussions and debates of science. Unfortunately budgets are tight and supplies that were not ordered at the start of the year now cannot be funded. Recently our classroom printer stopped working and I am unable to print differentiated worksheets, tests, project tasks, and laboratory activities. I have always taken great care of the technology given to me by conserving paper and ink, printing only class sets of materials, and posting to my website for reference later. Unfortunately the printer has printed its last page, and this is a huge disservice to my students, as my time is spent running to the library or using other teachers resources rather than planning more engaging activities for them.

My Project

A new printer and ink will greatly improve my classroom by allowing me to print worksheets, copies of notes for special education students, and assessments when needed. The all-in-one printer allows me to scan images to my PowerPoint presentations and make custom worksheets to accommodate the needs of my classes.

Donations towards this project will help generate curiosity, discussion, debate, and an overall understanding of the function and relationships in the environment around my students through the materials that it will print.

Science should not be taught by copying from a textbook that is 10 years out of date, it needs to be taught to current events, and materials that can give them the differentiation that they need.
