Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Your handwriting is a personal reflection of you. My students are new to this country and have not had a lot of practice writing. Help to develop these skills without being embarrassed.
I have 28 English language learners and special education students.
Some have been in this country for 2 months and some for 4 years. They come from Mexico, Honduras, China, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and from the U.S. They face daily challenges in their community, school, and personal lives.
My Project
I am requesting 3 sets of cursive books, 1 set of manuscript books, 1 pack of story paper, and 2 packs of sentence strips.
As teachers, we are faced with teaching a curriculum that sometimes does not focus on the individual child. Our students are faced with learning an enormous amount of information without proper resources. I have noticed that many of my students have not developed their handwriting skills. This is a problem because on the standardized test, many lose points because their handwriting is illegible. I cannot focus a lot of time on helping my students develop their handwriting skills, but these handwriting books will allow them to practice during lunch and at home.
During weekly student conferences, I can work with individual students on developing their handwriting skills. Over a period of time, they will perfect their handwriting skills and will be proud to present their work and will not lose points on their standardized tests.
These resources will leave a lasting impact on the lives of my students.
It will show that they take pride in the way they present themselves. Handwriting is very important. Think about the way you view someone who has a sloppy handwriting. My students are already facing odds by being English Language Learners and special education students. By developing their handwriting skills, they can give the world a better view of themselves.
