Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you remember your excitement when the art teacher announced that you would be painting? I would like to be able to continue giving painting as an option but we have had so much fun painting in the first half of the year that now we are running out of supplies.
My students come to art everyday excited to learn, explore their creativity and get messy!
We work hard to make beautiful paintings, drawings, sketches and sculptures. The students take pride in their work and are excited when we are able to submit to any contest.
Our school is a public elementary school in New York we have approximately 600 students in attendance. All of our students receive art services on a limited resources budget. As the first art teacher in a few years, I have been inspired by the creativity and excitement of my students.
I would love to be able to give back to their creative minds by supplying them with resources so they can be proud of the work that they create in the art room.
My Project
The paint brushes and watercolor paints will go towards projects for over 600 students from Kindergarten to fifth grade. These resources will be used to create paintings exploring various art masters such as Vincent VanGogh, Edward Hopper and Keith Harring. As well as used to assist in the creation of sculptures, masks and other three dimensional works of art. Students will be able to explore different types of texture and the create process through the use of these materials.
The students who I have the pleasure to teach have wonderfully creative minds who do not have the resources that allow them to explore their talents outside of the school building.
These supplies will allow for students to experiment and push them to think outside of the box. Thanks for your support of our wonderful art program!
