My Students
My students are fifth graders at a span magnet school (4th-12th grades). We are a Title 1 school. Most of my students are bused in from other areas of Los Angeles. We are excited to read Restart, a story of a reformed bully who attends middle school. I hope to incorporate social and emotional lessons and projects into our readings. My students need a safe place to be their true selves. I know this novel, along with supplemental lessons, can only improve my students' self-esteem and self-worth.
My Project
Restart is the spectacular story of a kid with a messy past who has to figure out what it means to get a clean start.
I look forward to incorporating lessons on diversity, growth mindset, bullying, self confidence, and team building with this book about a reformed bully.
Our school utilizes Restorative Justice, which we can use to further our social-emotional learning.
My students will also work cooperatively with one another (in groups, pairs, and triads) to dig deeper into the text and extract important information to use in our daily lessons. I am looking forward to implementing a variety of lessons with this novel!
