My Project
As a Special Educator, I am blessed to work with some students who may be neurodivergent. They often are categorized by the adults in their lives as a problem...I disagree. The world we live in is often not set up for children with diverse needs. When their needs are not met, they have the potential to act out in different ways; one way or another, my kiddos get their needs met, and in most cases, others are impacted negatively. The sensory path will guide them to move in a safe and productive way. The fidget toys will allow them to move discretely within the general education environment, without disrupting their peers. The sensory wall will support their need to get their hands moving, without destructing school property.
It is my job to support our students with neurodivergent needs proactively, teaching them to navigate the world in a safe way; these tools will expedite this process.
About 1 in 5 children have variations in their brain development. These children can be described as neurodivergent. These are some of my kids and they deserve the world. Help me give it to them.
