For me, teaching is not a job, it is a vocation. My first graders are on their way to being independent, yet, most of them still need/want support. They love learning and are always excited as they come in the door. Our school is set amid the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade. We are an independent school system that prides itself on providing a quality education, while still getting to know our students and their families personally.
My students exhibit our Pirate Pride every day - Positive attitude, Respect, Instilling trust and honesty, Doing their best, and Exhibiting responsibility.
My Project
Well accidents happen, especially in a first grade classroom. Our electric pencil sharpener hit the floor and now we are in desperate need of a new one. Our old one was an Xacto and it lasted for 5 years so replacing it with another Xacto assures us of long service.
We also recently received a coil book binder and my students have already used all of our binders - which is a great thing - it means we have been producing a lot of writing!
But now we need replacements.
Lastly, I prepare a lot of materials for my students' interactive notebooks. By having a paper cutter in our classroom, I would be able to prepare these materials quicker and the cuts would be more accurate.
