Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our classroom is an ICT classroom, serving special education students and general education students. Special education students, as well as some general education students who may need extra help, are pulled for small group work after whole group lessons to help with observed struggles in phonics, reading, and/or math. Unfortunately, the programs we use do not come with differentiated work or extra resources for interventions, and if they do they are often not engaging and fun for my students who may need extra motivation to stay focused and on-task. All money donated will be going toward supplies that can help students stay focused during small groups (such as a visual timer and wobble cushions for students who have difficulty remaining on-task and need flexible seating) and engaging interventions to use with my special needs population (such as leveled readers that will be interesting and relatable to my group of students and money to use for engaging or themed interventions on TeacherspayTeachers).
