I teach in a low income/ high poverty school. Several students of mine have struggles beyond the classroom. School is a safe haven for many of them.
All 21 of my students walk into my classroom, despite what they may be dealing with at home, ready to learn each and every day.
My classroom is a very tight knit community and each one of my students brings something different to the table. We all fit together perfectly.
My students deserve the best education possible, especially after they have experienced the devastation from Hurricane Matthew, and I am going to do all that I can to make sure that happens!
My Project
We are finally getting settled into our new space. Hurricane Matthew caused so much damage to our school that we were not able to return. We have moved to a new building and I am doing my best to make our classroom as comfortable and exciting as possible.
These materials will allow my students to complete their work with some comfort.
The large reading rug will give my students a nice place to sit as they work in their read to self center. The bean bag chairs will also allow them to read in an exciting seat. The wobble stools will help my students stay focused, especially since they have a lot on their minds lately. I also have a few students that struggle to sit in their seat all day, so stand up desks will provide them a way to complete their work without any issues. Finally, the rolling whiteboard will allow my teacher center to be mobile. I will be able to move the whiteboard to my students, instead of having my students come to me.
Again, I am just trying to provide my students with a welcoming environment where they will want to learn and grow. I can make this happen with their help :)
