Help me give my students a place to store our brand new guitars, piano stands and benches so we can use our new keyboards, and a classroom set of handbells!
I'm the new music teacher at the Bartlett Community Partnership School in Lowell, Massachusetts - a Pre-K-8 school in the diverse city of Lowell.
Here's a little bit about our school:
The Bartlett hosts 494 students with 79% being eligible for free or reduced lunch. Minority student enrollment is approximately 83%. 27.5% of students are English Language Learners. There are 23% of students with disabilities, a percentage of which comes from the Bartlett being home to a LEAP (Lifeskills, Education, and Planning) Program.
With regards to music and the arts, these students were unable to put on a concert or music gathering of any sort last year. However, having received grant money within the last couple of years, the Bartlett has many new instruments that would be very engaging for the students to learn and showcase. Two such things that were able to be purchased were some lovely new electric guitars and electric keyboards. However, in regards to the guitars, there is nowhere in our classroom for us to store them as we do not have any racks or stands. I know that this will be something my students will love and hence why I've asked for 2 guitar floor stands. This way we can have easy access to them and they will stay safe and well-taken care of. For our keyboards, we do not have any keyboard stands or benches to sit on in order to play them. Ordinarily this could be solved by putting them on tables but unfortunately, my classroom is not conducive to tables. Finally, I've asked for handbells as young students love them and we do not have any!
Overall, your donation would be greatly appreciated and could change many students musical lives for the better. Thank you for your consideration!
