Reading takes us places and I want reading to take my students everywhere! Through listening to reading students can grow a passion for reading and improve their fluency and comprehension.
I have 25 third graders this year that come from very different families and backgrounds.
Some families are unable to provide basic school supplies for their student. As a new teacher I have limited resources and can only provide so much for my students. I want to give them every opportunity to succeed as well as fall in love with reading. Although our school provides some technology, it is limited. Having daily exposure to this technology would benefit my students. Our school has 40% free and reduced lunch and limited resources on a tight budget.
My Project
My students will use these iPods during our literacy time. They will listen to audio files of books which will improve their comprehension and fluency, as well as vocabulary. Listening to fluent readers helps students become more fluent.
Additionally, many of my students will have limited experience with technology. Using iPods will be exciting and motivating for them. It will keep them engaged with the stories and allow them to build their passion for reading. Not only will my students become better readers, but they will be using and learning about technology.
These iPods will help my students become more fluent readers who understand what they are reading.
They will be more engaged and motivated and develop a passion for reading. I want to provide my students with every possible opportunity, but I cannot do it alone. Please consider donating.
