My Students

I am an elementary multiple disabilities teacher for students with moderate to intensive educational needs in a school with high poverty and limited resources.

My students come to school each and every day ready to try their best.

Some struggle with physical, cognitive and behavioral difficulties. But despite their individual struggles they are happy and ready to learn.

My instructional assistants and I do our best each day to provide our students with a safe and loving environment that provides individualized support and educational opportunities to keep up with their same aged peers.

My Project

With these iPads, my students who struggle daily to complete activities on the computer like their peers will be able to learn and collaborate with their peers. I have several students who because of physical disabilities are unable to use a computer with a mouse.

They need the use of a touch screen to help them communicate, produce written work and learn along side their peers without judgement.

My students have fine motor disabilities along with cognitive disabilities. They know they are different, and what I want to do is to give them the opportunity to feel like they fit in with the rest of their peers.

Some of my students are non-verbal. They need help to formulate a sentence and to communicate their individual wants and needs. With the use of the iPad, they will be able to not only demonstrate academic growth, but they will have a way to express themselves without out boundaries or limitations. With your help, we can make this happen.
