Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There are 25 students in my kindergarten ICT classroom. My students are from low-income families. Many of the students have limited resources at home. Most of the students rely on school resources to learn their academics. Parents often borrow supplies from the school and classrooms to further assist their children's education at home.

Many students have IEPs, special services, and ENL services.

Since our students have a variety of needs, we want to create a welcoming and warm environment for our students to learn in. Our students benefit from routines and organization so they can be comfortable and ready to learn.

My Project

Kindergarten students learn best through hands-on exploration using manipulatives. They also work best in small group partnerships which makes differentiated math centers ideal for teaching math concepts! Since the majority of our students are students with disabilities, our students learn best through visuals and manipulating objects.

With the hand2mind VersaTiles Math classroom kit, we would be able to create engaging math activities to teach math concepts!

Upon reviewing the hand2min classroom kit, I realized how awesome their product is because they include activities for all math concepts throughout the year. I also love how the students self-check theirselves to boost their self-confidence and help them fix their mistakes. In addition, all their activities are no-prep and are aligned to our math standards! Our students have enjoyed learning math so far and we want to further their exploration of math concepts by providing additional activities for them to work on.
