We are a second grade classroom in Maryland. Located in a high poverty neighborhood, we strive everyday to become the best readers, writers, and mathematicians! What we lack in material things, we make up for in spirit and excitement for learning.

Often times during our math time, students are having difficulties following along when we are doing a problem together. Some students can't see and others are crawling up with excitement. We need technology in our classroom that will allow everyone in the room to see what we are working on. Since my chalkboard is very old, I use chart paper instead of writing on the board! The chalk doesn't always come off and is usually a mess when you try to clean it. Since I teach in a high-poverty neighborhood, often my students do not come to school with the basic supplies they need everyday.

An overhead projector will allow us to project our math problems and pictures onto a large screen so that everyone on the carpet or sitting at their desks can see exactly what we are doing. The projector will help everyone in the room see and understand what we are working on. Chart paper will allow my students to participate and interact during reading, vocabulary and spelling time. By providing my students with crayons, pens, sharpeners, and erasers you are helping them achieve success in the classroom.
