My Project

Project Overview: Growing Together

In my classroom, where students in grades 6-8 with intensive needs thrive, I seek to create a dynamic learning environment that encourages both academic and personal growth.

The central goal of this project is to engage my students in the hands-on learning of the plant growth cycle, allowing them to cultivate a variety of plants, including vegetables and flowers. By integrating science into our curriculum through this interactive approach, I hope to not only enhance their understanding of biological processes but also build their confidence and sense of accomplishment. This project will empower them to take ownership of their learning while providing a meaningful service to our school community.

What makes my students special is their resilience and enthusiasm for learning despite the challenges they face, whether behavioral or physical. These unique qualities motivate me to tailor our activities to their strengths and interests, particularly in science. By establishing a small shop within the classroom, my students can put their skills into practice, selling plants to staff members across the district. This initiative will not only provide them with valuable life skills, such as responsibility and teamwork but will also cultivate a sense of community and purpose. Ultimately, my goal is to create a nurturing environment where my students can flourish, both as learners and as contributors to our school.
