My school, along with the state and most of the country, are going to be launching Common Core Standards approach to teaching and learning. Although I am excited with the new approach I feel the lack of materials to help teach them.
My amazing 22+ students come from very diverse backgrounds.
From racial to economic to family diversity. Our school is an inclusive school as well. Every class has students with special needs. Our urban school teaches love and acceptance. We emphasize a peaceful approach to living and learning.
My Project
I am so excited about the materials in this project. They all focus on Common Core Standards. There is a set for teaching language skills in centers. The set includes 4 boxes focusing on the main language arts components. This works so well in my first grade because I run small groups. I have also asked for daily comprehension practice journals. I have also asked for math practice cards and the sleeves and markers that go with them. Lastly, I found a math reproducible book that will help guide my teaching during math time.
